A bit of history: in every country, shawarma has its own name. But the essence remains unchanged - meat, vegetables and sauce. All this is wrapped in thin pita bread or in pita (the recipe can be found on the website). The dish has Arabian roots, since it has long been customary to wrap food in a fresh tortilla. Moreover, it is fatty food that they take with them on a hike, and what’s convenient is that their hands are clean and they ate deliciously. On our open spaces shawarma gained popularity in the 90s of the last century and is still popular today.

Therefore, it is worth trying to cook this dish at home to understand how to cook it. Let's stock up on the right ingredients and start cooking.

The main thing to remember is that there is no right shawarma recipe. All combinations that you like and have the right and perfect recipe.

Ingredients:

Pita thin - 2 pcs.;

Chicken fillet - 300-400 g;

Pickled or fresh cucumbers - 2-3 pcs.;

Champignon mushrooms - 200 g;

Potato - 1 large;

Mayonnaise - 100 g;

Mustard seeds - 2 tbsp. l .;

Any greens;

Salt and pepper to taste;

Soy sauce - 3 tbsp. l optional;

Vegetable oil.

Recipe:

It is most convenient to cook the shawarma filling in several pans at the same time. Since we don’t have skewers with meat, we’ll just fry it, however, like other products.

So, read the potatoes and cut into thin strips. Fry the potatoes in vegetable oil until golden brown over high heat, then reduce the heat and cover the potatoes. So he will reach faster. If you want crisp, do not cover it and cook a little longer.

We clean the mushrooms from dirt and cut them into slices. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp. l vegetable oil and put mushrooms in it. Fry them for 5 minutes, and then add soy sauce. Fry for another 5-7 minutes, until the sauce is completely evaporated. Mushrooms will acquire a beautiful color and unique taste.

Boiled or fresh chicken fillet cut into pieces and fry in the same pan where the mushrooms were fried. Add soy sauce if desired.

Now cut the cucumbers into 4 pieces along. All the filling is ready. What else can be put in shawarma? Korean carrots, cabbage, tomatoes and more.

Making a sauce - mix mayonnaise with mustard seeds and chopped herbs.

Spread pita sauce with sauce.

Poke the filling on one edge of the pita bread.
